Tuesday's Terrific Tip

Tuesday’s Terrific Tip

Today's Terrific Tip comes direct from Princess Sarah...

"When you visit the Parks, you should get an extra map.  That way, if you lose one, you'll have an extra one."

As an Aspie, Sarah sometimes like to be in control during our trip, and likes to know what's going on.  We've found that if she gets to carry her own map, she feels much more sure of herself.  It's also educational--she's learning how to read and follow a map--but we won't tell her that!  She has a good point, though...you never know when you're going to set your map down and forget it.  If you have an extra one, no problem!  If you don't have an extra, still no problem--you can pick one up in several locations around the Parks--gift shops, kiosks, etc.  Happy Touring!

Tuesday’s Terrific Tip

If it's at all possible, visit Disney World® during their slower seasons, specifically during Value Seasons.  Not only is this going to make your vacation less expensive, it can also make your vacation less stressful.  Crowds are generally at their lowest during Value Seasons, which makes for shorter lines at a majority of the attractions.  With an Aspie child, it doesn't get much better than this!

This picture was taken one morning in September '10, right after
park opening
As I mentioned in last week's Tuesday's Terrific Tip, a great way to tour the parks is to be there at opening, and then you can get a lot accomplished before the parks get more crowded.  During Value Seasons, though, the parks usually are not going to get too crowded, as compared to during school holidays, when parks can get extremely crowded.

If you'd like a quote for your vacation during Value Season (or any other season), you can click here to email me for more information.

Do you know how many bricks there are on Cinderella Castle?  None!  Although the Castle appears to be made of brick, it is actually a steel inner structure that is covered with fiberglass.  It is also secured to a concrete foundation.  Cinderella Castle is 189 feet high, making it the tallest structure in Disney's Magic Kingdom® Park.

Where Am I?

Here is something a little different!  I'm going to post a picture, and you need to guess what it's a picture of/ where it can be found!  Easy beezy, right?  So, here goes!  Where can you find this little guy?

Aspie kids don't do so well with the large crowds, busy-ness, and loudness that can occur in the Disney Parks® in the afternoons.  Instead, try to be at the day's park entrance close to opening time.  A lot of visitors will sleep on while they are on vacation, and so a majority of the attractions will have shorter, if any, lines (a couple of the most popular attractions will still quickly develop long lines, though, so make a beeline for those, such as the Toy Story Mania!™ attraction, first, before the line gets too overwhelming).  When the parks start filling up, you can take a break for lunch, and then head back to your resort for an afternoon swim or nap.  You can then return to the parks in the evening for dinner and some more fun, after all of the afternoon guests have worn themselves out and have slowed down or left for the day!

I Must Be "Dream"-ing!

Magical Memory
Mondays

During my recent on-site training, I got to do a lot of incredible things!  One of my favorite things we were given the opportunity to do was tour Disney Cruise Line's® newest ship, the Disney Dream®!!!  What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL ship!  The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was fully booked, so I couldn't stay on there with all of the lucky passengers who were boarding for what was sure to be a fantastic cruise!  I was able to take pictures of some areas of the ship, though, to give you a taste of the fun to be had on this incredible ship, so enjoy!

Our first glimpse of the ship from far away

Look at all of the cabins with verandahs!

Admiral Donald, at your service!

Beautiful chandelier in the ship's lobby

A favorite restaurant on the ship--an interactive Crush visits passengers while they eat!

A portion of the AquaDuck!  Can't wait to try this out!

Miniature golf!

Imagine the view out of these windows of Palo during a cruise!

Or, "dream" about an elegant dinner at Remy's, an upscale dining
location on the Disney Dream

Or, would you prefer to "dream" about a day at Senses Spa?

Of course, Disney Cruise Line didn't forget the kids...check out these cool areas for the kids to enjoy!

And who might that be checking out the video games?

There's even space for the teens, indoors and out!

I can't wait until I can find the time in my busy schedule to go on a Disney Cruise®!  Until then, I'll just have to...

On-site training at Disney World--Part 2

Magical Memory
Mondays

I recently had to do 5 days of job training--what better place to do job training than at Disney World?!?  It's a good thing I couldn't take my family...they would have never seen me all week!  We had a jam-packed schedule from morning till night!  One great thing that we go to do was tour several different resorts that week:

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Just outside of Disney's Coronado Springs' food court, Pepper Market

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

Beautiful riverside beach--no swimming allowed, though!

Look how festive!  Just like being in the Caribbean!

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani Village

Disney's Fort Wilderness Cabins

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Beautiful view of the Courtyard of Disney's Wilderness Lodge

And Bay Lake!

Absolutely breathtaking!

Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas Resort!

Just like being in New Orleans!

Disney's Pop Century Resort!

Disney's All-Star Music Resort

A guitar-shaped pool!

While I had visited or stayed at some of these resorts, I loved getting to see them all in detail.  I even picked out a couple that I can't wait to stay at myself on some future trips!

I'll tell you about more of the things we got to do during our on-site training soon!  Next time...could I be "Dream"-ing?
